The bodies are undergoing examination at this hospital

(JollofNews) – A Gambian father in his 50s and his two children were Thursday killed in a mine explosion in Foni Jarrol District, West Coast Region, officials say.

Jonkong Sanneh and his two children – Yahya and Sheikh Omar Sanneh of Foni Wassadou, were out collecting wood near Fass Chabai  village around 8:30am when they stepped on the landmine.

All three family members are reported to have been killed on the spot by the huge explosion.

Their remains were recovered by villagers who transported them to Sulayman Junkung Jammeh General Hospital in Bwiam for medical examination.

Lamin Faye, a nurse at Kalagi Health Centre, told the independent Point newspaper that the bodies will be returned to their relatives in Wassadou for proper burial once the medical examination is complete.
