(JollofNews) Gambia’s president Adama Barrow Friday evening left Banjul for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where he will perform the annual Muslim pilgrimage known as the hajj.
Mr Barrow, 52, is a devout Muslim and is performing the pilgrimage in fulfilment of the five pillars of Islam.
“The hajj is once in a life time obligation on Muslims who can afford the pilgrim,” a statement from the Office of the President said.
“Keeping to the Muslim tradition, the president seeks for forgiveness and prayers as he embarks on the journey for the first time. He also prays for peace and good health for all.”
